It’s back! The State Fair of Texas: A Great Texas Tradition returns Friday, September 26! The State Fair is one of the Metroplex’s best events for the fall. There is really something for EVERYONE at the State Fair! Live music at the Chevy Main Stage, an auto show for car and truck lovers, a Midway for the kids, shopping, and 2014 Big Tex Choice Award winning food like the Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil!
Entertainment
The Chevy Main Stage has a great line up this year that includes Kyle Park and Kool & The Gang! You can check out the full Chevy Main Stage line up here. The best part about the Chevy Main Stage Entertainment is that it is included with your Fair admission!
If live music isn’t your thing, don’t worry the State Fair has plenty of other entertainment options for you! The Pan-Am Arena hosts 3 of the most popular Fair attractions, Jump! The Ultimate Dog Show, Pig Races, and Ostrich Races. These shows are held daily, check your fair guide for specific times.
Thrill seekers won’t want to miss the BMX Bike Stunt Show! This group of all-star stunt riders perform their daring tricks on four different ramps that are set up next to the crowd. Over by the Auto Show exhibits, your family will find the MAPAPA African Acrobats! These acrobats are sure to wow your family with their balance abilities and amazing acrobatic stunts.
Wind down your evening by taking in one of the two night shows at the Fair. The Starlight Parade features fun floats, creative costumes, and lively characters making their way through the fair grounds. The water and laser show, Illumination Sensation, is located on the 700 ft. esplanade reflecting pool. Both of these nighttime shows are wonderful ways to end your day at the State Fair.
Food and Drinks
Honestly, we could devote an entire post to the tasty treats of the State Fair, but for today we will keep it simple and try to contain ourselves. The State Fair of Texas is known for the Big Tex Choice Award competition for the Most Creative and the Best Tasting Fair dish. This year’s top honor of Best Tasting goes to Clint Probst for his Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil and Justin Martinez took home the award for Most Creative with his Original State Fair Brew- Funnel Cake Ale. Be sure to check out all of the Big Tex Choice contestants and see if you would have made the same call the Judges made! Don’t forget to check out the Beer and Wine gardens for a nice place to relax while sipping on the perfect chilled beverage! There is plenty to snack on at the State Fair, so take your time and share with a friend! If all else fails, you can always come back again!
Auto Shows and Chevy Ride and Drive
It’s no secret that our family loves visiting the auto show at the State Fair! We love looking at the latest models from the different manufacturer’s and comparing the features and benefits of different vehicles. This year we are looking forward to paying a visit to the Chevy models that will be out on display including the 2015 Chevrolet Stingray and the 2015 Colorado Z71. We haven’t seen the Chevy Colorado in a few years and we are very excited to see what has changed on the 2015 model. Along with the Stingray and the Colorado, the 2015 Chevy Trax and the 2015 Chevy Silverado HD High Country will be in attendance.
The one event that our family will not miss this year is the Chevy Ride and Drive at Chevy Park Plaza. Chevy Park Plaza is located northeast of the Top o’ Texas Tower and the Midway and is tons of fun for the whole family! Fair guests, 18 or older with a valid driver’s license can take one of 6 Chevy models for a test drive on a special test drive track! Don’t miss this great opportunity to take a unique test drive and put your favorite vehicle through the paces!
